Extractivism and Infrastructure in Brazilian Literature

Brazilian literature has long helped make land thinkable as resource — the mine, the plantation, the river turned into a route. My research reads modernist and contemporary writing to trace that extractive gaze and, against it, the forms through which writers, Indigenous and Quilombola authors among them, imagine rivers, forests and soils as relations rather than reserves.
